Hi.

Welcome! I’m Catherine. For me, it's important to stretch my mind, travel far, and always have a stash of dark chocolate.

Visit Nashville / / Sevier Park Fest

Sevier Park Fest We went to Sevier Park Fest on Saturday and it was the perfect way to end our three-week vacation. My hometown hosted a very similar weekend festival every summer. The streets of the traditional downtown area would close for cars so that shops and restaurants could open out onto the sidewalk. There was music, games and lots of good food. It was a popular event and in high school I would often stay late into the evening doing who knows what. Just kidding we were most likely eating Dairy Queen Blizzards in the park. ;-)

I was very excited to discover that our neighborhood in Nashville puts on a similar event! Jordan was in London for last year's fest, but I made a mental note to go with him this year.

Sevier Park Fest begins on Friday evening with a concert that requires tickets (the band this year was Blues Traveler). Saturday is free to the public with music acts all day long and a bike race. The humane society was walking adoptable dogs, tempting all of us with cuddly, furry cuteness. Local Nashville stores and artisans were selling their wares in booths and of course, there was lots of yummy food. Nashville has many food trucks and I saw a few during the fest I hadn't seen before!

We chose to eat at The Grilled Cheeserie. I see the truck parked all over town and our sandwich did not disappoint! Grilled cheese and tomato soup was a staple growing up and it still is one of my favorite food combinations. I sorely missed eating grilled cheese sandwiches when I wasn't having dairy.

Jordan and I shared a make-your-own version with pulled chicken, tomatoes and avocado on sourdough bread. I was slightly tempted to order the tomato soup, but it really was far too hot to carry soup around.

Is there anything cuter than a flower truck? I think not. These flowers from Jordan came from Amelia's Flower Truck over the weekend. I love that Nashville supports businesses in all shapes and (quirky) forms.

While perusing the different tents, The BRANDED Collective bracelets caught my eye. After hearing the mission behind their business, I purchased a copper bracelet. They are super cute too!

"The BRANDED Collective employs survivors of human trafficking from Nashville-based non-profit End Slavery Tennessee. The women work with local artisans to design and handcraft the jewelry collection. 25% of the profits go to the rescue and restoration of survivors."

It's a good feeling when the purchases I make can go to support an awesome movement.
