I've been on a reading frenzy the last couple of weeks, all thanks to recommendations found on blogs. I love round-up or "best of" posts -- I always come away with new things to read, hear, and watch! Last month, I read The Nightingale per Marla's suggestion and this week I finished The Girl on the Train, which I first heard about from Chelsea. What are you reading this summer?
I recently purchased #GIRLBOSS (written by the founder and creative director of Nasty Gal) and I'm rather excited to start. My favorite thing to do is switch back and forth between reading fiction and non fiction books. I'll need to find another novel to sink in to!
Even though my week was cut short by travel, I still wanted to share my favorite posts from the past few days!
/ / Earlier this week, I walked into work with a side braid (instead of my usual topknot) and the shocked looks were abundant! It was funny to hear customers and co-workers comment on the change. It reminded me that my hair is at a length where I really should begin experimenting with new styles. So, the next day I walked in with milkmaid braids, which stayed in place for hours!
/ / I loved the dress Amy styled for her date night look. I have a fuchsia dress that has a similar sheer overlay, but having it in black to would be so versatile!
/ / Kelsey regular shares her budget and yearly/monthly personal finance goals. Seeing how Kelsey and her husband set their budget has been extremely helpful for me. Kelsey and Erica also discussed finances on a recent episode of their podcast. Jordan and I recently revamped our budget -- the effort resulted in a more effective budget for our two flex incomes. New goals were sent and we are taking active steps towards making them a reality. Yay!
/ / I gotta be honest, my unread emails are starting to pile up. My email inbox doesn't give me anxiety, but it is a part of my life I know needs to be addressed. I'm excited to use Nina's tips!
/ / Exploring new cities on bike! When we were in Paris and again in NYC, Jordan and I considered renting bikes and taking a bike tour. We had a lot of fun using Divvy bikes in Chicago, but I'm a little bit chicken riding a bike on busy streets when I don't know where I'm going. Next time though, I'm going to be all about it!
Happy Weekend, all!
