Hi.

Welcome! I’m Catherine. For me, it's important to stretch my mind, travel far, and always have a stash of dark chocolate.

A Chicago Baby Shower

baby shower On a cold Saturday in May, Jordan and I gathered with close family and friends to celebrate our sweet baby boy. We were extremely touched by the details and arrangements made by my sister-in-laws (+ moms!). Everything was so darling! I enjoy going to other people's wedding and baby showers, but there is an element of unconformability when it is your own. Who will come? Will they enjoy themselves? Will I be able to talk to everyone equally? Thankfully, my fears were subsided pretty quickly.

Jordan and I wanted our day to be relaxed and a time to catch up with people we don't get to see very often. And we were able to do just that!

For colors, we requested black, gold and white but other than that Jordan and I walked into his parents house completely blind! We had a photo station set up outside with wooden slabs as the background. A friend of the family illustrated sweet drawings (one of Yoshi, we plan on framing it!) which were sprinkled around the house. Our mom's gathered photos of us as babies to display. On the food station, little baby booties hung from a spray-painted branches!

So much care went into all of the details of our baby shower. ;-)

^ When my family lived in Ohio my mother became friends with three other women, all who were pregnant with girls, delivering within three months of each other. Corrie and I still have remained close after all of these years. It's interesting to think about how some of the mom/baby friends I make will remain in his life.

My sister-in-law, Beth (aka the game queen), developed a really fun trivia game in which Jordan and I filled out a questionnaire answering, "Who said/did it?". When each question was asked, people answered by holding up pink lips or a mustache (which she also made herself). I included the questions below for anyone looking for an engaging and non-cheesy baby shower game. Some of our answers were surprising, even to my mother!

Jordan and I drove back to Nashville not only with cute baby clothes, but with the feeling that our boy is already loved. Everyone who came to our baby shower (and many more who weren't able to come) prayed alongside us throughout our infertility journey and being able to celebrate with them was a gift.
