My skin went through several rough patches in my twenties. I had your typical teenage acne but made it through pretty unscathed. Adult acne is a whole other beast! I tried everything: diet changes, oral and topical prescription strength medication, supplements and of course many skincare lines.
Some of the above worked for a limited amount of time but usually only on certain parts of my face. Eliminating dairy and gluten significantly helped with the acne on my forehead, but did nothing for my hormonal cystic acne.
Ultimately, pregnancy is what skin cleared my skin. I didn't use a specific regime on my face while I was pregnant. It was a relief after years of frustration. Since Phoenix's arrival my skin has remained fairly clear, but lack of sleep has left my complexion a little on the dull side.
Moisture is my main goal, especially now that I'm 30! In an effort to use safer products, I was using Beautycounter, which I love. The main drawback to Beautycounter is simply acquiring their products. Your order has to be over $100 to receive free shipping, which isn't practical when you need to replace a single item.
After a little research, I decided to try Glossier. Their packaging is darling and shipping is waved for orders over $30! They don't test on animals, avoid using harmful ingredients (parabens, sulfates, fragrances etc) all while being reasonably priced. Plus, you get cute stickers and posters in each box (!!!).
My first purchase included a milk jelly cleanser and two masks. I wash and moisturize consistently, but own zero masks! Glossier's masks work together. Apply the mega greens galaxy pack (a green smoothie for you face) first and follow with their moisture moon mask. The mega greens mask is a clay mask, but mild. Clay masks can be intense, especially if your skin is sensitive, but the moon mask pumps any loss moisture.
So far I am really pleased and plan on ordering their priming moisturizer soon. Additionally, after I wash my face I use a toner to wipe any excess makeup off. Thayers Rose Petal Alcohol-Free Witch Hazel is our home's favorite (Jordan uses it too!).
