Life is full and busy and constantly evolving, but I'm enjoying my days as a family of three. A friend and her band was passing through Nashville on Tuesday. Instead of catching their show, I baby-sat her baby girl. I thought how this would have been impossible a few months ago. Okay, maybe not impossible, but Phoenix's unpredictability and neediness made last-minute plans challenging.
I'm telling this story as an encouragement to any parents (or future parents) who have wonderful, but not laid-back babies. It gets easier!
In other news, we have officially become a zoo membership family. There aren't a ton of places to take children in Nashville or at least places where you feel comfortable letting them run around without potentially migrating into the street. It's a short 20 minute drive, so it's perfect for a morning walk or playdate!
Onto the links!
Makeup Removal Wipes | I am the first to admit I am not the "greenest" person. My parents taught us to reuse and recycle, but because it's economical not because it's environmental. However you want to view it, we all need to reduce waste. A few weeks ago I thought to myself, why am I buying cotton balls? After a quick search on Amazon I found reusable cotton rounds. I find wash cloths to not have the right absorbency and these are the perfect size too.
What To Do When Your Friend Loses A Baby | Lindsay lost her son when he was one-day-old in January. She beautifully lays out practical advice for us -- the friends. Sunday is Mother's Day, a hard day for many women. If you have a friend who lost a baby (whether it was this year or three years ago) think about sending a card, flowers, or a simple text message.
DIY Sidewalk Chalk | I've played with home-made play dough, but I never thought about DIY chalk. Phoenix is still too little for chalk, but those days aren't very far away.
48 Must-Have Children's Books | Even before Phoenix, I often included books for baby-shower gifts or other holidays. Madeline is a go-to, but Emily's round-up includes many books I've never heard of before!
Asparagus and Green Lentils With Poached Egg | This simple, but nutritious meal screams spring. I have yet to eat asparagus this year, but Phoenix and I are grocery shopping this afternoon. I think I'll make this for dinner on Mother's Day!
Happy Weekend, all!
