Welcome! I’m Catherine. For me, it's important to stretch my mind, travel far, and always have a stash of dark chocolate.

Phoenix at Eleven Months

Eleven Months Update This was the month Phoenix began to act more like a toddler than a baby. He slowly replaced bottles with table food. When I am home he nurses several times throughout the day, but when I'm not home he loves the food! Phoenix continues to regularly sleep 12 hours a night, waking once or none at all! Sleep was an early struggle for us, but we are in a good place.

I went away for a night and I think it was harder for me than Phoenix! I was telling my friends I wasn't sad about being away from Phoenix because I was concerned for him, but because I enjoy his company. He is at such a fun age. His playful and silly personality cracks me up daily.

Eleven Month Update

Around 10.5 months I noticed Phoenix desired actual meals. He has breakfast, lunch, an afternoon snack, and dinner. If we leave the house without time for lunch I bring food with me instead of solely relying on nursing. A few of Phoenix's favorites are tomatoes, guacamole, black beans, eggs and any bread product. This website is helpful for structuring mealtimes/snacks. Phoenix loves all fruit, but especially bananas. I've begun baking a sugar-free banana bread. We slather peanut butter on it.

1/4 Cup + 1/3 Cup Apple sauce  1 tsp Vanilla 3-4 large, ripe Bananas 1 1/2 Cup Flour (your choice) 1 tsp Baking Soda Dash of Cinnamon + Nutmeg

Bake at 350 for 50-60 minutes

In August, Phoenix will begin attending a one day a week Parent's Day Out program in town from 9-2. This is a blessing as coordinating childcare is a weekly challenge! I'm hoping another day will open up for us as well. He'll be one of the youngest (if not the youngest) in his class, so we're working towards introducing milk (formula/pumped breastmilk) in a sippy cup. I'd rather not send bottles. We also need to begin weaning him from the sleep sack, but at the same time I'm hesitant because he loves it!

This is a reminder that I need begin planning his birthday party in earnest. Phoenix still isn't walking though he cruises along furniture. I thought he'd be an early walker but it's looking like it'll happen right around his birthday. It's cliché, but I really can't believe Phoenix is eleven months old! This has been the slowest and fastest year of my life.
